Tour Overview
The Tohoku Outback Traverse is a curated 8-day ski expedition through some of Japan’s most remote and rewarding powder zones. Starting in Yamagata and traveling north through Akita or Iwate, ending in Aomori, this trip connects you with untouched snow, mountain culture, and authentic Japanese hospitality.
Each day is guided by a professional mountain guide who is a local, so they know the snow, the region, and how to find the best lines. From the legendary “snow monsters” of Zao to the deep bowls of Hakkoda, you’ll ski, soak, and explore in ways few travelers ever do.
Designed for small groups, this tour balances powder hunting, cultural immersion, and comfort, with flexible plans based on daily conditions.
